Peer Perspective: Utilizing Screenfluence for Efficient Internal Communication

Author: Micajah Sturdivant, CEO

As a partner in the development process of bars, restaurants, and general hospitality amenity spaces, we understand guests consume more than what hits their lips. We take in the look of the plate presentation, vibe of the music playlist and personality of our server. Great experiences are the result of many details coming together nicely.

Correspondingly, a great message isn’t just about what you say, but HOW you say it and WHEN you believe it is best to be shared. As leaders of teams at work, home and in our communities, we all have experienced the impact of missed opportunities because the heart of a message was lost for its timing, tone or inconsistencies.

At MMI, our front-line team members told us they wanted to hear sooner, directly, and fully about the organization TO WHICH they have pledged their time and talents. Recognizing our charge in response to our annual engagement survey, MMI’s Executive Council quickly began researching opportunities for improvement and one example of its outcome follows.

We transitioned from MMI-centric Heart of House posters on which performance reports and introductions were plastered to an electronic communication tool across all three divisions of our organization. Powered by Screenfluence, our digital “billboards” present messages administered centrally for company-wide and or property-specific updates. Scrolling through the announcements, one might read about an upcoming benefit enrollment date, be introduced to a new executive ...or walk away motivated by MMI's CEO from reading Micajah’s Monday Message. Our commitment to keep the messages fresh and focused on the team member has been greatly appreciated…and may be something you would be interested in exploring too.

At MMI, we consider one’s psychological income as a component of our team member’s benefit. We try to anticipate their needs so that they may preempt their guests’. Fortunately, Screenfluence has been a cost-effective response to a basic need. It’s a win for everyone.
